CAREERS AT BRAVERLY

Licensed Therapist — Virtual Selective Mutism & Anxiety Care

Provide virtual selective mutism and anxiety care, with training and ongoing consultation. Remote contract role for therapists licensed in New York and/or New Jersey.

About Braverly

Braverly Health is a specialized virtual clinic making evidence-based selective mutism care more accessible to individuals and families. Our vision is a world where everyone affected by selective mutism can find the right support, no matter where they live.

Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder that leaves someone unable to speak in certain situations, even when they speak comfortably in others. Affecting as many as 1 in 140 school-aged children, it can prevent people from participating in class, building friendships, asking for help, and pursuing opportunities they want. Although selective mutism is highly treatable, families often spend months or years searching for providers who understand the condition and know how to help.

The role

We’re seeking independently licensed therapists to provide virtual care for children, teens, young adults, and families affected by selective mutism, related anxiety, and common co-occurring conditions. Selective mutism experience is welcome but not required. Bring a foundation in evidence-based CBT, and we’ll train you in our active, structured, exposure-oriented approach to selective mutism care.

Role type: Independent contractor

Location: Remote

Schedule: At least 10 available hours per week across clinical and non-clinical work, with at least 50% of hours during after-school and evenings.

States: New York and/or New Jersey

What you’ll do

  • Provide individual and family psychotherapy through telehealth.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans that build participation, communication, confidence, and self-expression.

  • Use evidence-based, exposure-oriented interventions for selective mutism and anxiety.

  • Coach and train parents/caregivers to support their child’s progress.

  • Help families practice treatment skills at home, at school, and in the community.

  • Coordinate with schools, outside providers, caregivers, or other supports.

  • Complete timely, accurate, and clinically meaningful documentation in Braverly systems.

  • Participate in onboarding, training, case consultation, supervision, and quality review.

Required qualifications

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related mental health field.

  • Active, full, independent clinical license in good standing in New York and/or New Jersey (psychology, clinical social work, mental health counseling, marriage and family therapy, or an equivalent eligible license).

  • At least 2 years of psychotherapy experience, including supervised experience gained before independent licensure.

  • Experience using evidence-based CBT to treat anxiety or related concerns in children, adolescents, and/or young adults.

  • Warmth and sound clinical judgment, with the ability to build trust with anxious or inhibited clients while supporting gradual progress.

  • Clear, respectful communication with families, schools, and colleagues, and reliable organization and follow-through.

  • Comfort with telehealth and cloud-based clinical systems, and access to a private, secure, professional workspace.

  • Openness to feedback, consultation, and continued clinical development.

Compensation

$55–$75 per clinical hour

The provider experience

  • Extensive training in selective mutism care. Learn to assess selective mutism, engage anxious children, coach caregivers, and guide exposures through self-paced learning, live training, and shadowing.

  • Ongoing supervision and case consultation. Get guidance on treatment decisions, feedback on your clinical work, and support navigating challenging cases.

  • Flexible scheduling. Build a consistent weekly schedule around your availability and patient needs.

  • Meaningful, specialized work. Serve a frequently misunderstood and underserved population alongside a team committed to quality, empathy, and access.

  • Operational support. Get support with telehealth, scheduling, intake, documentation, billing and payment, and communication workflows.

Independent contractor role

Contractors are not Braverly employees and receive no employee benefits unless required by law or agreed in writing. The written contractor agreement sets compensation, services, scheduling, confidentiality, and termination terms. Contractors maintain required licenses, credentials, continuing education, professional obligations, and malpractice coverage unless Braverly agrees otherwise in writing.

Equal opportunity and accommodations

Braverly is committed to equal opportunity. We make engagement decisions based on role-related qualifications, clinical fit, business needs, and compliance with applicable legal and professional requirements. We do not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic. Braverly will consider reasonable accommodations for applicants and providers where required.

Privacy, safety, and compliance

Providers must practice within authorized jurisdictions and their professional scope, training, and competence, and follow applicable laws, professional standards, and Braverly policies on confidentiality, HIPAA, telehealth, documentation, safety escalation, mandated reporting, records, technology use, and information security. Engagement requires completed onboarding, privacy/security training, and credentialing, verified licensure and good standing, signed agreements, and required background, compliance, malpractice, or other checks.
